Welcome to Classic Raqs Sharqi - 8 Weeks Series Online! It's the first time that I will be offering the 8 Weeks Series Online and allow dancers from any place in the world to join. I decided to dedicate the entire series to the legendary singer Oum Khalthoum. In the past, we studied different classic singer like; Abdel Halim Hafez and Warda Aljazeira (which is my favorite singer). However, I do believe that studying and focus in one singer will nurture even more and guide your personal research. Understanding the life of Oum Khalthoum and her music will give you a taste of Egypt from the 1920's to 1970's. Let's travel through time!

Series will begin on Tuesday August 4th and ends September 22nd. All students are encouraged to come for the entire course, while we welcome drop-in. The curriculum and schedule are designed to support the serious student who wishes to complete the entire course. We will give priority to those who sing up for the 8 weeks. We provide certificates of completion for those who attend the 8 weeks series. Students are invited to learn a new original Natalie's choreography. Payment must be completed upon admission in the given time period to guarantee enrollment in Classic Raqs Sharqi - 8 Weeks Series Online.
SERIES DESCRIPTION
The starting point of this series will be the Golden Era period, which was the vibrant mainstream of Egyptian arts and media scenes. Music and movies were popular, singers like Oum Khalthoum were listening around Egypt and the Middle East. We will be studying movements from Soheir Zaki, which was the first dancer to perform Oum Khalthoum music. Through lecture, technique and combinations we will explore the most know classic songs from Oum Khalthoum. The series will provide you knowledge and skills you won’t get in your regular classes.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY (Limited Space)
Rehearsals on Tuesday every week after the series 9:00pm - 10:00pm and one tech rehearsal on Tuesday, September 29th, 8pm -10pm. / Fee: $8 each rehearsal of 1 hour.
Participants will learn a Oum Khalthoum Classic song choreography as a group and the opportunity to perform as a soloist one of Oum Khalthoum songs. The show will be on Saturday October 3rd, 2020 by Zoom. The total fee ($80) will be collected on August 4th. Costumes will be provided covered by the participants.
LOCATION
All classes, rehearsal and performance will be held via Zoom. Link will be send by email on the first day, 1 hour before the class. The link will be the same one for the entire series. To have a better experience, make sure to download Zoom in your computer and to have a high speed connection.
