Feline Fluidity: A Bastet Inspired Bellydance Series
This 5-week workshop series will explore movements that embody the ancient Egyptian feline goddess Bastet. Participants will engage with historical and cultural references to prompt intellectual curiosity and movement exploration. Through focus on isometrics and flexibility training with special attention to hip mobility, participants will learn a fluid feline bellydance fusion choreography and develop individual interpretations of Bastet.
There is a performance opportunity on Sunday, June 15th. Attendees who prefer to not perform will attend the first hour only, as a drop-in.
ALURA
Specializing in the art of Middle Eastern dance, Alura has 20 years of dance training in a variety of genres, including samba, Jazz and Afro-Caribbean dance. She is known for her infectious smile and lush hip movements, characteristic of her style.
