ABOUT RAKS AL ZAHRA
Raks Al Zahra is a troupe based in New York City, where the focus lies in the Egyptian Folkloric, Classic and Modern Style under the direction of Natalie Nazario.
The troupe blooming started in May 2014 as it made its debut at the Spring Caravan in New Jersey.
In 2015, they won the first place at NYCairo Raks Festival in the group category.
They have been performing in Nevada, Georgia, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Japan.
The meaning of Raks Al Zahra is embodied in the beauty and awe of a blossoming flower. True to its name, Raks AlZahra emit grace, beauty, precision, and passion whenever they take on the stage on. They bring joy, excitement, and a new perspective to the art of dance that will leave you feeling "Al Zahra".

A native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, she is a passionate dancer who began her dance training at the age of six with the study of ballet, jazz, and modern. Since then she has continued to expand her repertoire with the study of Tango, Samba, Salsa, Flamenco and Belly Dance. Jesska began belly dancing under the instructor Amira Mor in 2004 and since then has continued to learn from other belly dance superstars nationally and internationally, master teachers of Bellyqueen, and the “world fusion artist,” Dalia Carella. Most recently, Jesska has become a certified instructor of the Spanish Gypsy Tangos Flamencos under the instruction and training of Puela Lunares of the Dances of the World Society and has completed the 40-hour Bellyqueen Dance Teacher Training. She occasionally teaches for Bellyqueen & Piel Canela and also offers private lessons.
In 2011 Jesska founded BaileDance focusing on emphasizing the feminine beauty and the art of storytelling through movement. In 2014 she became one of the founding members of Raks Al Zahra.
